Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteer work in the community. His family's first name is he's the youngest out of the nine children raised by Eufala through Lucious Selmon. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in the year 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and played three times in the all-pro league. The business venture he started began. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 youths from the United States. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was a player, captained his team during the season of 1975. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
