
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964) is an American actress choreographer, dancer and activist. Her biggest breakthrough came from Tina's character in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez was nominated for the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fearless (1993). Her starring film roles have since included It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008), and Birds of Prey (2020).Perez earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for In Living Color (1990-1994) and another Emmy nomination for her work in the film The Flight Attendant (2020-present). She has appeared in stage productions on Broadway such as The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. The 18th season was the time she was also a cohost on ABC's talk program The View. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. [11] In 1999 her mother was living in poverty at Woodside Houses when she died from complications arising from AIDS.
